Amsterdam Audience Captivated by Charlotte Sands’ Dynamic Performance

When Charlotte Sand goes on stage there is an unmatched energy in the room. On the 12th of June the singer played the sold-out Melkweg in Amsterdam. An intimate show that stays in mind because of plenty personal interactions with her fans and Charlottes confession of love at first sight with the city of Amsterdam. This special evening was a night to remember.

Kick Off…

Even though this tour-stop in Amsterdam had no opening act, Charlotte mentions how proud she is to have a female fronted tour and still gives a shout out to the openers AJA and Emi Jeen who were the support act at all other shows. Feel free to check out their music! The show starts with Charlotte Sands on the dark stage, blue flashlights pulsing as she sings the song “can we start over?”, the title track of her sophomore album. Sands, continues to play newer and older songs from her discography and the fans are all in, singing lyrics at the top of their lungs.

Acoustic Set…

We reach the part of the show where Charlotte explains her acoustic set. She brought a binder covered in stickers and glitter, carefully crafted by herself. This binder holds all songs of her discography, and she picks two lucky fans from the crowd to choose a song each. Amsterdam got some nostalgic song-choices that allowed us to hear some of Charlottes oldest songs. Sands starts off playing “Phantom Pain”, which is the first song the singer ever released back in 2018. Secondly, she plays “Six Feet Under” which was one of the first songs she has ever written and made it onto her “Good Now EP”. With her electric guitar Charlotte plays beautiful versions of the songs where her strong voice really stands out. The whole room went silent to listen in awe.

The emotional acoustic set is followed by “blindspot” one of Charlottes favorites written for the new LP. Going back to more upbeat tracks the crowd gets into motion again, just like Charlotte who is a literal whirlwind on stage, flipping her hair, strumming the electric guitar and dancing around while hitting all her notes. It is so much fun to watch her live her dream and you can’t keep yourself from joining the dance party.

Feeling Connected…

A Charlotte Sands show is only complete with the sweet interactions of the singer and her lovely fans. She trades a guitar pick for a bag of Dutch Treats, trying out different sweets on stage and sharing them with her team. She picks up bracelets and takes her time to hear out the stories of fans talking to her in between songs. It’s just a very special energy in the room and a safe space for everyone. The highlight of the show was when Sands played her emotional song “Alright” a track about feeling isolated and looking for belonging and a time where you’ll feel better. The fans in Amsterdam prepared a fan project to show the singer just how much they appreciate the music and artist in front of them. Blue hearts were handed out before the show and now the room is lit up with blue flashlights swaying to the song. As you look around you feel a connection that really makes you feel less alone and part of something, the Charlotte Sands Fandom.

Final Thoughts

Sands closes the show with her hits “spite” and “Dress (heavy version)” which invites everyone to scream out their favorite lyrics again and dance like there’s no tomorrow for one last time. After the show I am left with a sense of bliss and happiness, in awe of the combination of power and vulnerability that Charlotte Sands conveys in her music and presence. The independent artist is not afraid to be loud and take up space, she celebrates her first tour and LP without a label and looks like she is doing better than ever!
