Still Woozy Embraces His Vulnerability on Sophomore Album”Loveseat”
On “Loveseat” Sven Gamsky, better known as Still Woozy, continues to shine with authenticity and leans into his vulnerability. As he navigates the newfound joys of fatherhood and delves deeper into storytelling, he expands his signature psychedelic indie sound while exploring fresh sonic landscapes. By introducing a wide range of sounds and experimenting with singles, Still Woozy keeps his fans engaged and ready for anything he throws their way. Trusting his intuition throughout the creative process, Sven recently discussed his latest project and the desire to grow during a 1824° press conference.
The Sound of Loveseat
Inspired by the warmth of Marvin Gaye, the nostalgia of The Beatles and the synth texture of Tame Impala, Still Woozy crafted a distinct and personal sound on Loveseat. “Putting out a record is nice to make a home for all the songs that wouldn’t do so great as singles.”, he reflects. For the first half of the album there is a sense of familiarity and high energy. With songs like “Big Fish” and “Houston”, we discover a deeper storytelling and ease into the new Still Woozy sound.

Q&A
Do you see your new album as a continuation of your first album or a fresh chapter for you creatively?
It’s like a mix of both. I have some songs that feel more reminiscent of the first album, but I made a conscious effort for it to not be only that. I wanted to introduce new sounds and put in stuff that pushed things sonically. I know I have a style but there’s an element of familiarity I can’t get away from.
How do you make sure that each song title captures the story you are telling?
Some of them are just working titles that I decided to keep. “Big Fish” is a song about my dad, if you know the movie, it’s an ode to their father-son-relationship. That is why that was a more meaningful title. But like in general it has to feel right and at the end of the day it is more of a feeling than an intellectual decision.
How does your environment influence your song writing and music?
I’m someone who needs to be relatively grounded to make music. When I can just wake up and go into my home studio I can get work done and feel inspired. But when I am on tour and waking up in a new place every day it is very destabilizing and for being creative that is not the best environment for me. I need to have a quiet space and familiar environment to access deeper feelings. It takes some time to connect with yourself if your in the space of someone else.
How do you maintain your artistic vision while also appealing to your broader audience?
At the end of the day I have to stand behind my music. It has to stand the test if it feels like me and feels good. It’s a ridicouous test because I go within me and my emotions change all the time. I can feel different about it 10 times in 10 minutes. Is this me? I look inside and it’s a difficult process to figure out, but it feels like the right way to push myself and grow. It’s not necessarily about how it appeals to more people. So I look for what I want to do storytelling wise and with production ways I always wanted to grow. I never want to be the same, that is not exciting and I don’t see the point in just making the same song a hundred times.
What’s Next…
Still Woozy’s sophomore album is psychedelic indie perfection and expands on his artistic skills. Fueled by romantic and platonic love and the new bliss of fatherhood, Sven has created an album that is a heartfelt tribute to life and the people who make it brighter. It’s always inspiring to see artists become more vulnerable, weaving personal experiences into their storytelling.
Looking ahead, Sven hints at exciting new directions, including a venture into country-inspired music. He also plans to delve deeper into writing about fantasy worlds, as he did with the track “Frida Kahlo”. While we savor this new record, we’re eagerly anticipating future singles and witnessing the continued growth and exploration of Still Woozy’s sound.
